The Alocasia Yucatan Princess Pink Variegated is a collector specimen wrapped in genuine botanical uncertainty — and that uncertainty is part of what makes it interesting. The standard 'Yucatan Princess' cultivar is, as Aroidpedia notes, a plant of unclear origin: neither a confirmed hybrid nor an accepted species, with an epithet that is geographically nonsensical (the genus Alocasia is strictly old world and does not occur in the Yucatan Peninsula), sold historically and incorrectly as a cultivar of *Alocasia sarawakensis* to which it is unrelated. It is nevertheless a distinctly recognisable plant — characterised by dark, somewhat puckered leaves with a metallic tint, a lower primary vein count than the superficially similar 'Serendipity', and a glossy, leather-like surface quality that gives mature specimens a commanding presence.
