Plant Arrival Care Guide – The Alocasia Company

Your plants have been carefully prepared and shipped securely, including a 40-hour heat pad to provide them with the safest journey possible. Upon arrival, plants may naturally experience some stress from travel. To help your plants adjust and thrive, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Careful Unboxing: Gently unpack your plants, taking care to avoid damaging any leaves or stems during removal.

  2. Provide Gentle Light: Initially, place your plants in an area with bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sun exposure for the first few days to reduce additional stress.

  3. Ensure Air Circulation: Allow good airflow around your new plants to help their leaves naturally readjust from being packaged and to minimise the risk of bacterial or fungal growth.

  4. Gradual Acclimation: Allow your plants time to adapt slowly to their new environment, which can take from a few days up to a few weeks.

  5. Check Moisture Levels: Before watering, gently check the moisture level of the soil. Water moderately if the soil is dry but avoid overwatering, as saturated soil can further stress the plants.

  6. Avoid Immediate Repotting: We advise against repotting or disturbing the roots right after receiving your plants. Repotting immediately can stress the plant further. Allow plants time to recover and adjust in their original pots first. (Immediate repotting also voids our 7-day live arrival guarantee).

  7. Monitor Progress Closely: Keep an eye on your plants for the next several days, looking for signs of recovery such as improved leaf posture or colour, and stay alert for any indications of continued stress.
