Who We Are

The Alocasia Company exists because we couldn't find the plants we wanted anywhere else.

Not the rare ones. Not the genuinely hard-to-find cultivars that serious collectors spend months hunting. The common varieties were everywhere. The plants worth growing, the ones with real collector appeal, were almost impossible to source in the UK without paying import prices or taking a chance on unknown sellers.

So we did two things.

We grow our own Alocasia, at our private UK nursery. Nothing is mass-produced. When one of our plants is listed on this site, it has been grown on here, assessed by hand, and judged worth your attention.

And we import the specialist, hard-to-find plants that simply do not exist in UK stock. They arrive fragile, as stem cuts or tissue culture, so we root them, acclimatise them to UK conditions, and grow them on until they are established enough to travel again. That is the stage at which plants are lost, and we would rather carry that risk ourselves than hand it to you at the point of sale.

Either way, the plant you receive has spent real time in our grow pods. Nothing is drop-shipped. Nothing leaves the week it lands.

We are a small, specialist operation, and that is entirely by design. We do not stock common Alocasia. We do not chase volume. What we do is hold a carefully chosen selection of rare, exotic and collector-grade specimens, and know each of them properly: how it has grown here, what it has already done, and what it is likely to do next.

That means limited stock, limited drops, and a level of knowledge a warehouse operation cannot offer.
