AUREA VARIEGATED ALOCASIA

Aurea variegation produces some of the most visually striking foliage in the Alocasia genus. Golden-yellow sectors and splashes emerge from a disruption in chlorophyll distribution, replacing the usual deep green with warm tones ranging from pale lemon through to rich, saturated gold. Aurea expression tends to hold more consistently across successive growth cycles than albo, which makes these plants a rewarding long-term addition to a serious collection.

Almost all of our aurea plants are grown on from corm at our private UK nursery, from our own mother plants or from corms collected from growers we trust. A smaller number of established plants come in as stem cuttings or tissue cultured stock that has already been grown on and acclimatised, which we establish in our own substrates before listing. Variegation is confirmed and visible at the time of listing, and we assess each plant individually before it reaches you, so you know exactly what you are buying. The golden colouration in the listing photographs is present on the plant you will receive.

Our aurea collection spans species and hybrids across a wide range of forms, from compact collector specimens through to statement cultivars with bold golden patterning. Whether you are drawn to the subtle warmth of a lightly variegated juvenile or the full expression of a mature specimen, every plant here has been grown on and assessed with the same care that defines everything we do at The Alocasia Company.
