Care
Light. Bright, indirect light. Variegated tissue carries less chlorophyll and scorches more easily than green, so filter strong sun.
Water and humidity. Keep the substrate evenly moist, never wet. Aim for 60% humidity or higher.
Feeding. A balanced feed programme through spring and summer; ease off in winter.
Dormancy. An Alocasia that drops its leaves in the cold is usually resting, not dead. Keep it warm and barely moist and it will push again.

Alocasia baginda 'Dragon Scale' Tri-Colour Variegated
Looking for the Alocasia Dragon Scale Tri-Colour? This is the rarest variegated expression of the iconic Alocasia baginda 'Dragon Scale', a single cultivar carrying three variegation types at once: chimeric albo, aurea, and pink sectoring across its signature quilted, reptilian foliage.
The Holy Grail of Dragon Scale Variegation
'Dragon Scale' is already a beloved cultivar for its embossed, scaly leaf surface that reads almost like dragon hide. The Tri-Colour expression layers cream and white albo sectors, golden-yellow aurea sectoring, and occasional pink tones across that signature texture. The albo and pink elements are chimeric and can shift between leaves; aurea is more stable. Each leaf is a one-off, and reversion is always a possibility with the more unstable chimeric sectors.
Care and Establishment
Dragon Scale prefers bright, indirect light, enough to drive aurea and pink expression without scorching the more delicate albo sectors. Humidity above 60% and a chunky, well-draining aroid mix are essential. A gentle balanced feed programme during active growth supports leaf production and pigment stability.
All plants are grown in Fluval Stratum, our preferred early-stage medium for corms and baby Alocasia, held in our 3D printed Corm Keeper stand. Once fully rooted and at juvenile size we repot into our own pon mix, blended from components in our Soil Ninja range.
