Plant Description
Alocasia 'Simpo Albo'
Looking for Alocasia 'Simpo Albo'? This rare hybrid cultivar, bred from Alocasia lukiwan × sinuata, is one of the more compelling albo variegates to emerge from the collector community in recent years, combining the structural elegance of its parent species with high-contrast white variegation.
What sets 'Simpo Albo' apart is the quality of its albo expression. Creamy-white sectors sweep across the glossy deep green foliage in bold patches, the kind of variegation that draws attention across a room. The lukiwan parentage contributes a refined, elongated leaf form, while the sinuata influence brings subtle texture and depth to the blade. Together they make a plant that earns its place in a serious collection on appearance alone.
As with all chimeric albo variegates, each leaf unfurls as its own piece. No two are identical, and the expression can shift between bold, half-moon, and fully green reverting growth depending on conditions. Stable temperatures, bright indirect light, and consistently high humidity will encourage the most reliably variegated new growth.
All plants are grown in Fluval Stratum, our preferred early-stage medium for corms and baby Alocasia, held in our 3D printed Corm Keeper stand. Once fully rooted and at juvenile size we repot into our own pon mix, blended from components in our Soil Ninja range.
