Plant Description
Alocasia Regal Shields Albo Mint Variegated: Statement Variegated Hybrid
This is a rare variegated expression of the well-loved Regal Shields hybrid, already known for its enormous shield-shaped leaves and architectural presence, here lifted with chimeric albo and mint sectoring that turns each leaf into a statement piece.
Two-Tone Chimeric Variegation
This cultivar carries both true albo (white/cream) and mint (pale green) sectoring across the deep, glossy green base of Regal Shields. The variegation is chimeric, meaning expression is generated at the meristem and shifts from leaf to leaf. No two specimens are identical and reversion is always a possibility. For collectors who enjoy hunting for unusual leaves, this is exactly the appeal.
Care and Growth Habit
Regal Shields is a large-growing hybrid that responds well to bright, indirect light and humidity above 60%. Variegated sectors are more vulnerable to scorch, so keep light filtered. A gentle balanced feed programme during active growth supports the larger leaf size this hybrid is known for. Given enough warmth and room, mature specimens produce substantial shield-shaped foliage that anchors any collection.
All plants are grown in Fluval Stratum, our preferred early-stage medium for corms and baby Alocasia, held in our 3D printed Corm Keeper stand. Once fully rooted and at juvenile size we repot into our own pon mix, blended from components in our Soil Ninja range.
