What collectors say
Care
Light. Bright, indirect light. Variegated tissue carries less chlorophyll and scorches more easily than green, so filter strong sun.
Water and humidity. Keep the substrate evenly moist, never wet. Aim for 60% humidity or higher.
Feeding. A balanced feed programme through spring and summer; ease off in winter.
Dormancy. An Alocasia that drops its leaves in the cold is usually resting, not dead. Keep it warm and barely moist and it will push again.
Delivery and arrival
Plants are dispatched Monday to Thursday only, so they never sit in a depot over a weekend. Every order is sent with a heat pack and packed plastic-free.
Free UK delivery on orders over £75. Unpack on arrival and give your plant a few days of steady conditions to acclimatise.
Every plant is covered by our 7-day live arrival guarantee. If there's a problem, email sales@thealocasiacompany.co.uk within 7 days of delivery with your order number and clear photos. Please don't repot in those first 7 days, as repotting voids the guarantee.
Pet safety
Like all aroids, this plant contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if eaten. Keep it out of reach of cats, dogs and children.
About this cultivar
FORNICATA ALBO VARIEGATED
Alocasia Fornicata 'Albo'
Looking for Alocasia Fornicata 'Albo'? Elsewhere in our range you may have seen the standard Alocasia fornicata, already a plant with genuine collector credentials. The 'Albo' cultivar takes that same elegant species and layers in chimeric white variegation that makes it one of the rarer variegated forms available in the UK market today.
Alocasia fornicata is known for its clean, upright habit and broad arrow-shaped foliage, a species that earns its place in a collection through structure and botanical character rather than novelty. The 'Albo' expression does not change any of that, it simply adds another dimension. Creamy-white chimeric sectors sweep across the deep green leaf surface in patterns that shift with every new unfurl, bold half-moon sectors on one leaf, lighter splashes on the next. No two leaves are identical, and no two plants are either. As with all chimeric albo variegates, the expression is inherently unpredictable in the best possible way, and each new leaf genuinely warrants the anticipation that serious collectors will recognise immediately.
Care requirements align closely with the standard species. Consistent warmth and humidity above 60% will keep this plant settled and growing confidently. Bright indirect light is particularly important with the 'Albo' cultivar; it encourages the strongest variegation expression and keeps the green tissue between sectors deep and vivid. For care fundamentals, our Alocasia care guide is a solid starting point.
All plants are grown in Fluval Stratum, our preferred early-stage medium for corms and baby Alocasia, held in our 3D printed Corm Keeper stand. Once fully rooted and at juvenile size we repot into our own pon mix, blended from components in our Soil Ninja range.
Key features:

- Light requirements: Bright indirect light for strongest albo expression and vivid base colour
- Humidity: Prefers 60%+ for consistent, healthy growth
- Growth habit: Manageable and upright; well suited to indoor collector setups
- Rarity: Rare albo form of an already uncommon species; limited availability
