Alocasia sintang 'Neon' Variegated
Looking for Alocasia sintang 'Neon' Variegated?
A genuinely rare find for serious Alocasia collectors. Alocasia sintang is an undescribed species originating from the Sintang regency of West Kalimantan, Borneo, and has only been in cultivation since the early 2000s. The 'Neon' form takes that already scarce parent and adds a vivid green-on-green variegation with soft yellow flushes, a colour expression rarely seen on the standard collector circuit.
What makes the 'Neon' cultivar so distinctive is the way the variegation reads across the leaf. Rather than the high-contrast white sectors of an albo, you get a luminous lime-on-deeper-green pattern threaded with warm yellow tones that catch the light. Subtle from a distance, quietly striking up close, a connoisseur's piece rather than a display for its own sake.
Alocasia sintang is also a notable parent in modern Alocasia breeding, credited as one half of celebrated hybrids including Alocasia 'Albatuwan', Alocasia 'Silver Armor', and Alocasia 'Silver Streak'. Owning the 'Neon' variegated form puts a piece of that lineage directly into your collection.
Care follows standard Alocasia preferences: bright indirect light, warmth, and consistent humidity. Pair with a gentle balanced feed programme to encourage stable new growth. As with all variegated specimens, leaf-to-leaf expression will vary, which is part of the character of the plant.
All plants are grown in Fluval Stratum, our preferred early-stage medium for corms and baby Alocasia, held in our 3D printed Corm Keeper stand. Once fully rooted and at juvenile size we repot into our own pon mix, blended from components in our Soil Ninja range.

Lighting Conditions
Alocasia thrive off good lighting. The use of grow lights can help with darker areas of your home.
Humidity & Water
The only rule! Don't over water, keep your substrate moist, not wet. Less is more in every watering. High humidity is essential; aim for 60% or higher. Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or regular misting
