Plant Description
Alocasia Flemingiana 'Albo'
Looking for Alocasia Flemingiana 'Albo'? Seldom seen in the UK or Europe, this is one of the rarer albo variegates in circulation, not a hybrid but a true cultivar of Alocasia flemingiana, a species that already carries strong collector credentials in its unvariegated form. Finding the albo expression of this plant is a genuine hunt win.
What makes Flemingiana 'Albo' so compelling is the combination of an already distinctive species form with high-contrast white variegation. The spade-shaped leaves are elegant and immediately recognisable, broader at the blade with a wide sinus that gives each leaf a sculpted, architectural quality. Creamy-white albo sectors sweep across the deep green foliage differently on every leaf, making each new unfurl its own event. As with all chimeric albo variegates, expression will vary, from bold half-moon sectors to lighter splashes, and petiole colouration may differ between growth, but the characteristic leaf shape of flemingiana remains consistent throughout.
Care-wise, this is a plant that rewards a considered setup. Bright indirect light will encourage the strongest variegation expression and keep the green tissue vivid. Too little light and the plant may push greener, less variegated growth over time. High humidity and consistent warmth will keep it performing at its best.
All plants are grown in Fluval Stratum, our preferred early-stage medium for corms and baby Alocasia, held in our 3D printed Corm Keeper stand. Once fully rooted and at juvenile size we repot into our own pon mix, blended from components in our Soil Ninja range.
