Alocasia Azlanii Orange Aurea Variegated
This is the aurea-variegated form of the celebrated Alocasia azlanii, a Bornean rarity known for its near-black foliage and burgundy-red veining, here carrying golden-yellow sectoral variegation.
Alocasia azlanii was named after plant collector Azlan Pandai of the Brunei National Herbarium, whose enthusiasm in searching out aroids in the field has brought about many rewarding finds.
A Bornean Rarity Lifted with Aurea Sectoring
Azlanii is one of the most striking Alocasia species in cultivation, with thick leaves and metallic red veins that catch the light from every angle. The aurea variegation adds golden-yellow sectoring across that already dramatic base, producing a colour combination you do not see in any other Alocasia cultivar. Aurea sectoring is more stable than albo, though expression still varies between leaves and across growing conditions.
Care and Establishment
Azlanii is more compact in habit than many Alocasia and appreciates bright, filtered light and humidity of 60% or higher. Warmth is important to push consistent leaf production. A gentle balanced feed programme during active growth helps deepen the green tones and supports stable aurea expression. Juveniles benefit from a stable environment after arrival to settle in.
