Care
Light. Bright, indirect light. Variegated tissue carries less chlorophyll and scorches more easily than green, so filter strong sun.
Water and humidity. Keep the substrate evenly moist, never wet. Aim for 60% humidity or higher.
Feeding. A balanced feed programme through spring and summer; ease off in winter.
Dormancy. An Alocasia that drops its leaves in the cold is usually resting, not dead. Keep it warm and barely moist and it will push again.

Alocasia sanderiana Aurea Variegated
Looking for Alocasia sanderiana Aurea Variegated? This is one of the rarest variegated forms of the Kris plant, a true collector's specimen carrying chimeric aurea variegation across its iconic deeply lobed, sword-edged foliage. The species itself is critically endangered in its native Mindanao habitat, and the aurea variegated form is hunted across collector circles worldwide for its striking yellow-gold sectors set against the signature metallic dark green leaf blade.
Alocasia sanderiana earns its "Kris plant" name from the wavy, deeply dissected leaf margins that echo the traditional Southeast Asian kris blade. In the aurea variegated form, yellow and gold sectors distribute chimerically across the leaf surface, creating one-of-one patterns that will never repeat, so each unfurling leaf is its own reveal. The silvery-white venation remains prominent throughout, threading through both the variegated and dark green tissue and holding the overall leaf architecture together visually.
As a chimeric variegation, this form has not been reliably produced through tissue culture, and TC sanderiana stock is not guaranteed to express aurea sectors. Each variegated plant offered is the product of careful division from a parent specimen, which is why genuine aurea variegated stock remains scarce and pricing reflects rarity. Aurea sectors are also light-hungry, so provide bright, indirect light to maintain strong expression and avoid reverting conditions through low light or inconsistent feeding.
All plants are grown in Fluval Stratum, our preferred early-stage medium for corms and baby Alocasia, held in our 3D printed Corm Keeper stand. Once fully rooted and at juvenile size we repot into our own pon mix, blended from components in our Soil Ninja range.
