This rare aurea variegated cultivar of Alocasia portei is one of the more dramatic plants available to serious collectors — a species already known for its extraordinary scale and deeply divided foliage, elevated further by vivid golden-yellow variegation that demands attention.
Alocasia portei is not a subtle plant in any form. Its elongated, deeply lobed leaves — each lobe finger-like and sharply defined — give it a sculptural, almost prehistoric quality that sets it apart from virtually every other species in the genus. The 'Aurea' cultivar takes that already commanding presence and runs warm golden-yellow marbling through the deep green foliage, concentrating particularly at the lobe tips and leaf margins where the contrast is most striking.
