Care
Light. Bright, indirect light. Variegated tissue carries less chlorophyll and scorches more easily than green, so filter strong sun.
Water and humidity. Keep the substrate evenly moist, never wet. Aim for 60% humidity or higher.
Feeding. A balanced feed programme through spring and summer; ease off in winter.
Dormancy. An Alocasia that drops its leaves in the cold is usually resting, not dead. Keep it warm and barely moist and it will push again.

Alocasia Plumbea Nigra Pink Variegated
Looking for the Alocasia Plumbea Nigra Pink Variegated? This is one of the most heavily pink-expressed Alocasia we have ever offered, with dusky rose variegation so strong that on some leaves it claims an entire half of the blade. It is a form that almost never surfaces in the UK, and one that has become seriously hunted in the collector market.
When Pink Takes Over
Most pink variegated Alocasia show their colour in flashes and streaks. These specimens go much further. Expression ranges from fine green splash mottling over soft blush grounds through to full half-moon sectors, where the leaf splits cleanly at the midrib into green on one side and solid dusky pink on the other. Deep rose veining threads through the lot. Pink sectoral variegation is unstable by nature, expressing differently on every new leaf, and that is exactly what makes each plant a genuine one-off. No two leaves on these four look alike, let alone two plants.
These are juvenile specimens, and as Plumbea Nigra matures the foliage deepens towards the dark metallic tones the cultivar is named for, setting up an even stronger contrast against the pink as the plant grows on with you.
How We Grow Them
These arrived as tissue culture imported plants grown in moss and we rooted them into Fluval Stratum here at the nursery, our preferred early-stage medium for corms and baby Alocasia, held in our 3D printed Corm Keeper stand. Once established as juveniles, they are transitioned into our own pon mix, blended using the Soil Ninja range, and grown on towards maturity. Every plant is fully UK-acclimatised.
Care and Positioning
Bright, indirect light will hold the strongest pink expression without scorching the delicate variegated sectors. Aim for humidity of 60% or higher and keep the plant in the free-draining mineral mix it arrives in; there is no repotting needed on arrival. A gentle balanced feed programme during active growth supports steady, well-pigmented leaves. When pruning, leave variegated growth points intact for the best long-term expression.
