How to use

Simply place the plant with LECHUZA-BASICPON in the self watering plant pot liner or directly in the planter.

Our self watering plant pots and LECHUZA planters consist of an external and an internal pot. Pots are different in height and due to this difference, a space is formed inside – a container for water.

There are drainage holes in the inner pot through which the water flows into the substrate. LECHUZA-BASICPON draws moisture from a water tank.

A wet zone forms. For the first three weeks, the plant leaves its roots in the wet zone and begins to take the optimal amount of water and fertilisers for itself.

Lechuza MonoPon Potting Mix

Peat-free.
Provides reliable water drainage.

No more waterlogging or root rot! A common cause of yellow leaves or dead plants is waterlogging, leading to root rot.

The mineral substrate MONOPON ensures reliable water drainage in conventional planters without a LECHUZA irrigation system.

Thanks to 100% natural pumice, moisture is stored and released reliably. Apart from being used as a drainage layer, MONOPON can also be mixed with soil to loosen it and improve soil aeration, protecting against compaction. It is also an excellent alternative to conventional expanded clay, which carries a high CO₂ load.

The non-fertilised formula allows the plant to be fertilised as needed or combined with pre-fertilised substrate. Due to its volume-stable properties, MONOPON also offers the plant stable support and a firm footing in the planter, making it the ideal substitute for soil for complete planting in conventional pots. The substrate is peat-free for the sake of nature.
