PLANT SPOTLIGHT

Alocasia cuprea 'Pink Mint'

Plant Spotlight

Alocasia cuprea is already one of the most visually distinctive species in the genus — the Mirror Plant, named for the iridescent, almost metallic sheen that distinguishes its foliage from anything else in a serious collection. The Pink Mint form takes that foundation and adds something genuinely rare: a dual-tone variegation expressing soft pale pink and delicate minty green across leaves that can reach 60cm in length.

What makes this form exceptional is the interaction between the cuprea leaf structure and the variegation itself. The thick, waxy, deeply textured surface catches light differently depending on angle and intensity — and where that light meets the pale pink and mint tones, the result is an ethereal luminosity that photographs cannot fully capture. Collectors who have grown standard cuprea will understand the baseline; the Pink Mint form introduces a softness and complexity to that already remarkable foliage that elevates it into a different category entirely.

This is not a plant that announces itself loudly. The pale pink and mint tones are subtle, almost understated — which is precisely what separates it from the more saturated variegation forms that dominate the market. For collectors who appreciate restraint and botanical nuance, the Pink Mint form delivers something the showier varieties cannot: quiet, sustained visual interest that deepens the longer you know the plant.

These plants have been grown from tissue culture and fully acclimated in a sterile environment at our UK nursery — meaning the stress of laboratory exit is behind them, and what arrives with you is a settled, stable specimen ready to continue growing in the right conditions. Five plants only. Once they are gone, restocking is not guaranteed.
